I fulfilled a livelong wish by stopping here on our way to Yuma. Although the Salton Sea is not the tourist mecca it once was, it’s still a beautiful and fascinating place. We learned that this salty lake was originally created by accident stemming from a canal that diverted water from the Colorado River. The area is now maintained as a California State Park.
As we drove past a dunes area on the way, we stopped at a rest stop and caught some pictures.
